- 1963: Troy Mays and the late Don Smith establish Texas Salvage Sales Inc., parent company of Merchandise Recyclers & Liquidators. Store opens at 810 W. Eighth Ave.
- 1964: Texas Salvage Sales leases building at 220 E. 10th Ave. Eighth Avenue location closes when 10th Avenue opens.
- 1974: Fire destroys 10th Avenue location.
- 1976: Texas Salvage Sales opens location at 3850 Canyon Drive.
- 1980: Business opens as MRL in the warehouse at 100 S. Pierce. MRL eventually expands to four buildings covering four city blocks, including three retail stores, a wholesale division and storage facilities.
- 1999: MRL opens location in Sunset Center in the former Manufacturers Outlet location. Location later closes.
- Nov. 30, 2002: Fire destroys MRL Door Store, 100 S. Pierce.
